July 3rd, 80 degrees. Other than a deer, some birds, and a squirrel, I'm the only one at the "downtown" boat launch. Maine, folks.

Bowdoin student @elliewanders finds the orientation of a pahoehoe lava flow (this ropy-looking rock, splotched with lichens and surrounded by moss) that we encountered in a lava field near Reykjavik, Iceland
