This endangered black-billed gull debuted in my 2012 graduate thesis, titled “Don't Call It a Seagull," but is now a fitting ambassador for my next project on New Zealand seabird conservation.

Maine maritiming

July 3rd, 80 degrees. Other than a deer, some birds, and a squirrel, I'm the only one at the "downtown" boat launch. Maine, folks.

Zee and the Glacier Mouse

A glacier mouse is a ball of moss that forms around a pebble and gets blown around on a glacier. Lots of tiny animals live inside of it!
